Christelle McDermid

I'm a painter at heart, with a passion for oils on canvas or board. However I like to mix things up – literally! I love incorporating textures and mixed media elements, a technique known as femmage, to add an extra layer of depth and visual interest to my work.

Lighting is another obsession of mine. I'm fascinated by the way colours and textures can be transformed by different lighting effects, so I've been experimenting with creating my own lamps and coloured light installations.
I'm not afraid to get a little crazy and try out unconventional ideas. I'm a firm believer that art should know no bounds, so I love experimenting with different mediums and techniques. Next on my horizon? Exploring new surfaces and diving into the world of printmaking. The possibilities are endless, and I'm excited to see where my art takes me next!

I am drawn to the unexplained, the unconventional, and the unsettling. My artistic fascination lies at the intersection of the mysterious, the macabre, and the humorous. Through a diverse range of mediums and unorthodox techniques, I create visual expressions that defy categorisation.

My art is not for the faint of heart; it's for those who revel in the absurd, the bizarre, and the unknown. I don't cater to the masses; instead, I create for a select few who share my passion for the unconventional.

Unencumbered by traditional boundaries, I experiment with an array of mediums, from the traditional to the avant-garde. Other times I will follow traditional processes to see where it leads me. My creative process is driven by an insatiable desire for self-expression, and I'm constantly seeking new ways to push the limits of my art.

If you're prepared to confront the unusual, the unsettling, and the absurd, then welcome to my world."
