Barbara Hopley

I was born in Zimbabwe, and studied Fine Art at Rhodes University.

I live in Three Rivers, Vereeniging where I run a private teaching studio for children and adults.

I have 40+ years of experience teaching in tertiary education, having taught Fine Art, theory and techniques, as well as graphic design techniques at various institutions primarily at the Vaal University of Technology.

For the past 7 years I have been the visual arts coordinator for the Vereeniging Arts Festival, where I have organized the festival exhibition and participated in the adjudication.

I am a practicing artist. As a painter I enjoy working in all mediums but especially like working with watercolour for small studies and oil paint for larger works.

I like to explore different themes in my work, and especially enjoy doing landscapes of places I have visited.

I have completed and collaborated on several private and public commissions, and have participated in and hosted various exhibitions during my 40+ years as an artist.
